Team Big J comes through again

His top two picks both needed 8+ foot putts on their 18th holes Friday to make the cut. (Thomas and Speith) Hatton also made the cut on the line. Day was the only one to miss the cut. And then Brooksie wins the PGA Championship. That’s the kind of year you need to win the Tommy O Award. 30 points to Big J and the Major sidebet victory.

Dave has his last three picks miss the cut. And his top three picks could only just finish. Zero points for B.T.O. and he drops into a tie for 3rd place with your Commissioner.

I should have known I was in for a frustrating week when my Tom Kim fell in a muddy creek Thursday. Never a good omen.

A good tournament for Monica and Al as we wrap up our 2nd Major of the year and hit the half way point of this FGL season.

And now a rant that has nothing to do with golf. A flood light in our kitchen burned out. No complaint as they seem to last 15 years. I went to Lowes to grab a new 65 Watt flood light. If only it was that easy. There’s bright white, relaxed white, cool white, soft white, daylight, warm white and a few others. Really? Of course the one I bought doesn’t match the other 5 at home that still work. I say it doesn’t matter to me but it’s eating me up inside!

And finally - welcome back to Team Doug!

FGL mini-meeting

A 2 1/2 hour meeting of select members of the FGL Board took place Tuesday evening at TopGolf. As a special treat, Annika Sorenstam addressed our illustrious group. Of special interest was watching the golf world, led by Annika and her 10 Major championships meet Monica, a pillar within the FGL community. Just watching these two titans meets was one of those amazing moments, kind of like when Paul McCartney met John Lennon, when Abbott met Costello, when Ben met Jerry.

Is it over?

Jason Day wins and Hatton comes in 5th place. So many more points for Team Big J. One of those strange years where his number 1 drafted guy has brought in the fewest points. It’s all going his way and we haven’t even had our second Major yet.

I noticed the Byron Nelson set up the “stadium” look on #17, similar to what Waste Management does on their tournament. Must be a trend. Just makes me wonder if Doug will be doing that for this year’s IDI.

This was the greatest hot dog of my life. It came from Big J at Glenross this week. Debt paid. Makes it taste soooo good!

Mrs. Commissioner and Commish go on long weekend.

Doug goes to Australia. I’d never get the clock in my car adjusted for that. So we decided to stay within our own time zone. A couple eye opening days with Mrs. Commish in Pittsburgh, a few days in WV at Oglebay (where Monica, Al, Doug and I once had an amazing tennis match) and then a quick trip to Papa Boo’s on the way home.

Wyndham Clark?

42 FGL golfers participated in this latest elevated event. And yet Wyndham Clark, whom no one has, walked away with the victory? Stunning!

Big J took two weeks off and some might expect his team to be a bit rusty. Spieth did throw in a triple bogey to end Thursday and then badly miss the cut. But overall, a strong 8 more points for your FGL leader.

BTO moves up to 2nd place thanks to 11 points but his young eager squad!

Kevin lost a point and Paul continues to own the basement.

Let’s go back to Texas for a week!

Kevin gets nice Finau win in Mexico

Kevin picked up 10 points and B.T.O. 9 points thanks to Rahm’s 2nd place.

FGL Managers with the first three draft picks find themselves in the top 3 places on your FGL leaderboard. As it shold be.

I’ve finally decided I really like Trevor Immelman’s accent. I’ve been trying to talk that way around the house. Mrs. Commissioner is not amused. That happens often.

Wells Fargo in Charlotte up next with Byron Nelson after that

Team tournament changes little on FGL leaderboard

Big J had the week off this week ( as well as next week ) giving us all a chance to catch up. But most of us only inched our way forward. Doug has fled the country and yet he still picks up 7 points.

I was a little worried seeing that Kevin and Dave had teamed up pairing Homa and Morikawa together. Thankfully they feasted on too much Cajun food and missed the cut - the only FGL golfers to miss the cut last week.

What a lovely week it was

Made it down for a Clippers game at Huntington Park. It was the Tigers (Mudhens) vs. the Guardians/Indians (Clippers). The Mudhens won on a picture perfect comfortable night.

Also got out to Champions to play some golf with The Doctor. Where do I begin? Where do I end? Anyway - it was also another perfect sunny day on the course. Here we are on the 180 year par 3 (#10). We hit some unbelievable tee shots. Yep - I think we combined for about 6 of them!

A medical update:

Just keeping everyone in the loop on my always exciting adventures when it comes to health.

Last week I had an appointment with a doctor. It was a lovely afternoon. I certainly came through it feeling so much better about myself. You may have guessed it. Office visit with the one and only Doctor of Golf -Al McGuire at TopGolf.

Doug jumps up to 2nd place before leaving the country

His #1 guy Fitzpartrick came through with a victory in Hilton Head bumping Doug up from 5th place to 2nd place on your FGL leaderboard. That must feel good as he’s off to Australia for a month. Per the FGL by-laws, other FGL managers are free to provide guidance for Doug’s team in his absence. I’m open to any suggestions.

Big J’s number one guy, Justin Thomas, is his worst performing golfer this season. But it doesn’t seem to matter. The rest of the squad pitches in. As the saying goes, “there’s no “i” in “J”. And yet, he continues to lead.

Paul having three guys in and then giving them the weekend off is not a strategy I would recommend.

Realizing that her young Zaltoris has decided to quit for the season, Manager Monica has released him and also fired Tommy Detry. Pinch hitting on the female phenoms’ team will be Kurt Kitayama and Keyoung-Hoon Lee. I know. I had to do some digging. Turns out Hoon Lee is some guy she met at Chipotle at lunch one day. Anyway - welcome!
