Big J builds on his lead
I’ve seen him use this recipe before. In his previous championships, Big J generally built up an early lead and held on all year. Usually this happened with the Masters. But with the Master’s now the 2nd Major, he’s started strong right from the beginning. Frenchy DeChambeau, a second round pick, won at Bay Hill. Crybaby. He hit a shot out of the bunker on #11 and announced that these were the worst bunkers on the tour. Good thing Arnie isn’t alive to hear that. Imagine if Bryson had played the Memorial a decade ago when Jack messed around with the rakes. That would not have gone well! Anyway - 18 points for Big J. Also a great week for Jim and Laustin as they each had 3 golfers in the Top 10 including Dustin Hoffman and Jimmy Connors.
My guy Si Woo Kim shot an 80 in his first round. I pulled him aside, “Si, what gives?” which was a really stupid thing for me to say since he doesn’t speak English. Si just dropped his head and walked off into the parking lot. Never saw him again. Not sure if I ever will!
Justin Pete Rose made the cut for Dave. But on Saturday, he proceeded to quickly deposit ball after ball into the lake; talking a 9 on a par 4. He then grabbed his back, slammed his trunk and went for a pint. No word if he’ll be well enough to play the Players.
