Eclipse Event
Mrs. Commissioner and I headed out to experience the eclipse experience Monday afternoon. Rather than just watch it at home, I wanted to get a little deeper into it so that I got the full experience. I’m not sure I’m going to make it the next time it comes through Ohio in 2099. I’ll probably be busy.
I initiated the Doug Bame Travel Protocol. With that, you just randomly travel wherever you want and once you stop, then you are exactly where you are supposed to be. Mrs. Commissioner was not a big fan of this plan. “Are you stopping here? Are we really just going to get out and walk around?” We ended up in Ashley Ohio at a small local “downtown” bar. There’s only one traffic light in Ashley so it’s hard to pinpoint the downtown. I told the bartender that we were just trespassing and he responded that everyone there was. There were about 50 people at the bar/patio. “I know everyone in this town and I don’t know any of you!” - he told me.
Without the silly glasses, you wouldn’t know the moon was attempting to do its magic. With even the slightest sliver of sun shining through, it was still very much daylight. Kind of disappointing. But then the moon stepped up its game. It got mostly dark, street lights came on, the temperature dropped a little, Mugsy wanted to get in her pajamas. But a few minutes later, the sun peeked out the other side and it was blnding again! I took a crappy picture through the silly glasses. Any photo you find on-line will be much better.
And I heard Dark Side of the Moon and Total Eclipse of the Heart enough to last me until the next eclipse.
