Not much happens in New Orleans - with regard to the FGL

B.T.O. and your Commish inched just a little closer but no one really did much of anything.

Not expecting much to happen this next weekend either. It’s the Byron Nelson. Remember when that was a big tournament with Lord Byron sitting in a big chair off #18? I guess with the way this tournament lands now, it’s mostly a week off for FGL golfers unless they are from Texas.

And with that in mind, should be a great week for B.T.O. Scottie and Spieth are playing; should be 17 points.

Manager Golfers expected to play

Jaustin   Byeong Hun An, Will Zalatoris

PAK-Mon   Sungjae Im, Nick Dunlap,

B.T.O. Scottie, Jordan Spieth, Henrik Norlander

Doug   Eric Cole

Jim   Beau Hossler, Max McGreevy

Big J No one

 Commish   No one

Jim has another good week

In a week where there was NO cut, you needed guys to finish top 10 to make up any ground. And Jim did that best of all with 16 points. Last week I bet that Justin Thomas would miss the cut. I guess he took that personal as he went on to win the Heritage in a playoff this week.

On Sunday I watched the grandsons searching through an Easter egg hunt. I started to have seizures. At first, I couldn’t understand why. And then I realized I was having similar flashbacks to what typically happens when I tee off. I get stuck in the woods scavenging for my golf ball!

Jim and Big J continue to lead the way on your FGL leaderboard. Let’s see if a trip to New Orleans changes any of that.

FGL mostly catching its breath with tournament headed to New Orleans

After the Master’s and Heritage, a lot of guys are taking a break. This is that tournament where they team up. Last year’s champs were Rory and Shane Lowry.

Big J Collin Morikawa, Bobby MacIntyre, Shane Lowry, Billy Horschel

B.T.O.   Henrik Norlander

Manager Jim likely needs to have his heart checked.

I thought for sure Rory had the Master’s locked up. Then he lost it. Then he won it. Then….. Up 5 shots with 8 holes left and Justin Rose catches him? I did not see that happening. But Rory finally got it done and finished up his career Grand Slam. A big week for Jim as he takes command of the FGL Leaderboard with 22 points and wins the coveted Major tournament sidebet jackpot of $35.

Your Commissioner was the loser for the week; only picking up 6 points. Half my team wanted the weekend off. And I’m still not sure about Aberg. He’s got that little dot above the letter “A” that I just don’t understand and can’t figure out how I’m supposed to pronounce it.

I had a wonderful time Friday catching up with Managers Big J and Doug. Started at TopGolf and naturally, J still has his automatic swing. But more than anything, his mind is so locked into this golf season. then we were off to Gallo’s. Honored to be there for the big announcement. Well at first I thought it was a tornado warning or a Hooter’s birthday celebration. No - it was CBS honoring Monica & Paul’s boy Nick Dunlap for having one of the greatest one day comebacks ever at the Master’s. He shot a 71 Friday. His management must be so proud. If only he hadn’t shot 90 on day one.

Time for some Harbor Town action

Short (by our standards), narrow, lots of trees, small greens. Interesting course. And a signature event with lots of guys playing.

Your Commissioner is dumping Taylor Pendrith, mostly because I don’t know who the guy is. Bringing back an old favorite who hasn’t been part of the FGL for a few years. Please stand and welcome back Daniel “Ham” Berger.

Manager Golfers expected to play

B.T.O. Scottie, Max Homa, Jordan Spieth, lil Rickie Fowler

IT'S THAT TIME - FRIENDS!

With a nudge from the FGL office, The Master’s will be providing a ton of shot data on every golfer throughout the tournament. Not sure how you find it or what you do with it but anyway.

Your Commissioner is making a trade. Archie “Ben” Griffin is gone. Stepping in will be Sepp Straka - which bothers me. I think of him as an “Al” guy. This just isn’t settling well but I want 6 guys giving it a shot on Thursday.

First chance we’ll get to see some of the LIV golfers play.

Jim - Justin Thomas has been playing great this year. But I predict he’ll miss the cut at the Master’s. So confident that I’m willing to bet lunch at a place of your choosing whenever the day comes that I make it down to Bradenton.

I was wrong - again.

With Jim and Big J tied for the lead and no one playing for Big J, I presumed that Jim, with 4 guys playing, would advance into a huge lead. So wrong. No points. Still tied. Also at the bottom of the leaderboard, Doug and Monica both managed to score 0 points!

My number 1 guy, Aberg, played in only his 2nd FGL tournament this year. And he still hasn’t managed to play on a Saturday/Sunday. And lately, on our calls, he’s always claiming a bad connection and hangs up. I want to blow up. And yet, I don’t feel like any FGL team is doing great. The leaderboard at Valero Sunday was filled with unknowns. Strange season.

I was also wrong about the Tigers. I checked tonight and they are in first place! Is this some delayed April Fool’s joke?

Hello TopGolf!

Six week after getting carved up like a Thanksgiving turkey, I made a visit around the corner with the folks at my local TopGolf. Just hit about a dozen balls with my wedge. I went in thinking that any swing was progress. That was until I bladed several, shanked a couple and threw in a whiff as well. A few made it in the air but it wasn’t pretty!

Possible future OSU tailback?

Luke played in his first flag football game on Sunday. This feisty five year old took the ball on an end-around and went untouched on his way to flag football history! The crowd went wild! The only slight issue is that he ran the wrong way. At the post-game press conference, Luke noted, “there wasn’t anyone that way to tackle me.” Brilliant!

Scottie is just scary

While he didn’t win, he still made sure the field knew he was ready for 2025. He shot a 62 on Friday. And Sunday on the back nine, rolled off 4 straight birdies (with no bogeys) to grab a 2nd place finish. I’m not sure what Dave has said to the guy but he is fired up! 7 points for Team B.T.O.

Doug’s new boy Rai apparently had prior plans this past weekend. He played Thursday/Friday and then left. “It’s intimidating being in the FGL for the first time. And now I’ve got some guy named Doug calling me for team conference calls? I’m not sure I’m going to like this.” - Aaron Rai. Management is never easy.

Managers Jim and Big J have moved into a tie for first place with our first Major coming up next week. With all of Big J’s guys partying it up at Daytona Beach this week, seems like Jim is destined to take over first place.

Back to Dave & Doug, their MLB feud has begun. Doug’s 5 game lead on Opening Day is already down to 3 1/2. The Tigers lost their first 3 games. Unless I’m missing something, if this trend continues, I don’t see how Doug can win.

Valero Texas Open up next. The Master’s is up after that.

Big J rattles his team

Matthieu Pavon was given his immediate release. From what I can tell, it appears to be a mutual decision. According to Matt, “The guys told me I was J’s 7th pick on Dtaft night because of salary cap issues. So I never felt part of the team. I’m going back to France.” Stepping in will be Min Woo Lee; a small guy that swings the club as hard as anyone on the tour. Welcome Min.
