Wow - what an incredible last gasp effort!

Does anyone remember the gutsy effort by Willis Reed in Game 7 of the 1970 NBA Finals?

Well Doug is attempting the same feat. In an effort to at least lock down 2nd place and hopefully win the Tommy O Award, Doug has fired his ENTIRE team! They’re all gone! This happened so fast, the lockers still show the names of his former players. And a clearly bitter Little Louis was heard muttering to the clubhouse walls, “where were you for me last week Doug?” Crazy stuff! Anyway, Doug’s new team includes:

Louis Oosty, Luke List, Adam Hadwin, Cam Trangale, Sergio and Captain Kirk.

Open Championship answers some FGL questions, confuses others

Big J is clearly on his way to his 975th Tommy O Award this season. Maybe not quite that many but let’s just say “lots”. His guys did enough and certainly Spieth’s 2nd place locked in victory for the Kentucky captain with only two tournaments left.

The Brother’s Bame are in a tight battle for second place. Both squads saw all their guys make the cut - which you’ve just got to have. But Doug’s #1 guy barely held on to make the cut and only scored 2 points for his manager. Meanwhile, Kevin had two guys finish Top 10 to pull him into a second place tie with his arch-enemy.

Your Commissioner, Kevin and Big J all tied for the Major sidebet with 20 points.. Monica and Jim struggled with just 2 points after flying all the way to England.

Late news before the British Open

Jordan Spieth has decided to try some new irons before The Open Championship. Is this the right time? Will it come back to haunt him? Gosh - I only wish the best for him!

Matsuyama hasn’t been able to practice much so he’s sad. The positive COVID that kept him out of the US Open has led him to decide to skip the British Open. It’s just hours before the tournament starts and Doug is beyond words. He doesn’t know what to say to Hideki. Of course, part of that is because he doesn’t speak Japanese. Anyway - good bye Master’s winner. You’ve been fired. In his place is Shane Lowery.

Time to go over the pond. Early morning TV on Golf Channel.

Another IDI in the books. Amazing weekend!

It’s been a long time since the IDI was played over multiple days. But Sunday the 4th saw the traditional round of golf in Granville. The City seemed so happy to see us. Monday took us out to Royal American for their farewell tour as they close at the end of the year.

SALUTETHEFLAG.jpg

The competition for the coveted crystal boot was between myself, Doug, Big J and Brandon . And it wasn’t much competition. Big J was on his game with a smooth 81 to win the cup. We’ve all seen this ceremony too many times before!

As always, a few shots from #18.

Announcement from the Commissioner’s Office

Some of you already know this. But your Commissioner has decided to hang up his dental floss and retire. Clearly, I need to spend more time focusing on my FGL duties. When I look back at my Draft picks, I clearly must have been distracted. I will be retiring at the end of January. Still not sure how all of you are going to out-live me. I just may attempt to prove you wrong!

Big J’s team was only very average for this Major. How did that happen? Doug picked up 14 points to close the gap just a little. The biggest week went to Kevin with 26 points and his second major championship. Kevin jumps to 3rd place as we close out our 4th Major.

Wow - what a tournament!

Of course - we had lots of rain Thursday. That would normally be the story. But not this time.

I don’t care for Bryson. I think he’s very odd. But walking on the sidewalk behind Brooks Koepka just doesn’t seem like the basis of some major feud. But wow - fans were escorted off of the Muirfield grounds by taking all this far too seriously. And so I figured that would be the big story. But no…..

Kevin makes a major trade to pick up Jon Rahm. On Saturday, as Rahm is running away with the tournament, I’m being heckled for my “brilliant” move of dropping Rahm just weeks earlier. My daughter Ashley, my brother, people I don’t even know - everyone giving me crap about Rahm on his way to win the Memorial. I even joked with my brother - who was at the tournament Saturday - that he’d need to do something to get Rahm DQ’d. I heard the news Saturday night and saw the video replay Sunday morning. While a little happy for myself, that’s just terrible news for Rahm. And Kevin. Kevin ended up going backwards with Rahm not finishing and Peppermint Patty and John Holmes not making the cut.

Monica got a nice win in overtime from Cantlay. 16 points for her. And Jim picked up 22 points to move up the leaderboard. But your Commissioner brought home the Major sidebet and 24 points largely thanks to Morikawa’s 2nd place finish and good Sunday rounds by Si Woo Kim and Alex Noren.

Also some news way down in the basement. With Dynomite Walker having a good tournament, Dave has crawled out of the basement, ahead of Al. The Doctor had Cameron Champ miss the cut badly and Kuchar deciding not to come back out on Friday to finish his opening round.

Week before the US Open and we're off to some new tournament in South Carolina. And most no one is playing in it - at least FGL golfers.
