FGL 2022 season in the books!

Monica needed a 1st and 2nd place finish to pull off a miracle finish. She came close. She got the 2nd place finisher but Don Henley couldn’t quite get the win, ending up in 5rh place. And thankfully, Aaron Wise finished top 20 for me to secure the win as your Commissioner takes home the coveted Tommy O award!

Doug - brilliant move losing two points in this tournament. It drops you behind Paul and improves your draft pick next year.

Team Laustin - so strong for so long. Appeared you’d win this year but I think your guys just ran out of gas as the season ended.

Dave - wow. What to say? At least you were tied for the lead before the season started!

So many top picks just did not produce much this year. And for Big J, Billy Horschel was his top scorer. Billy was picked up after the draft but before any tournament. Great trade but a bad omen when a trade is needed before the season even starts.

FGL managers will need to watch what happens with the LIV league - especially regarding Majors. I would think it would certainly impact the draft next year.

The 2023 FGL Draft Festival will likely take place on SUNDAY afternoon, February 19th.

FYI: Major winners:

Masters - Al
PGA - Jim
Memorial - J
US Open - Kevin
British - Commish

Nice win Al.....but.....

Tony Finau got the victory for Al at the 3M Open. Congrats Doctor. That win moved you up two spots on the FGL leaderboard. And it therefore also moved you two spots further back in next year’s Draft.

Monica got a nice 2nd place from Im to inch her way closer to the FGL lead.

Paul - could have been a big weekend for you. But you’re kind of cursed. Matsuyama (who you may recall getting DQd at the Memorial for having a spray on his 3 wood) shot a 9 on a hole by putting 3 SHOTS in the water Thursday. He then withdrew claiming that he was hurt. My guy tells me it was his feelings that were hurt.

Just two tournaments left. Rocket Mortage in Detroit followed by the Wyndham.

We're heading to Motown

Wow - what a difference a week can make

Team Laustin lost its focus this week; likely due to new responsibilities involving diapers and bottles. -2 for the Cincinnati area franchise and a drop from 1st to 3rd place on your FGL leaderboard.

Doug and his arch-enemy Kevin are now separated by just 1 point with 3 tournaments remaining.

My Camerons came through. My #2 and #3 picks were strong the whole tournament and finished 1st and 2nd at St. Andrews. And Rory was within one stroke of giving me a second person in 2nd place. But when the dust settled, 42 points for your Commissioner and the FGL lead.

Commissioner institutes a new rule

It’s nice being King but embarrassing that after 24 years, I haven’t yet addressed this. But if it should happen that there is a tie for first at the end of the regular season, those managers will compete in the following week’s event with the same teams they had when the season ended. No trades. This playoff will continue for as many weeks as the tie continues. Just something for us to complain about in winter meetings!

Time for THE Open. Peacock carries it when I'm sleeping. Then USA/NBC

Team Laustin adds to management team

Besides Al (Happy birthday Doctor), we now have another Independence Day baby. Julian Matthew was born far too early in the morning of July 4th. 7 pounds and 10 ounces. Mom has been discharged and Julian will be home in a day or two. Mom is doing well and so is Austin. Both are likely wondering when they’ll ever sleep a whole night ever again.
