The young Jedi isn't quite so invinceable
Much like how Spiderman would jump from building to building, Liam tried the same thing jumping from one elevated vegetable bed to the next - just came up a little short on one of those jumps. Broken arm. Cast for a month!
Mrs. Commissioner and Commish go on long weekend.
Doug goes to Australia. I’d never get the clock in my car adjusted for that. So we decided to stay within our own time zone. A couple eye opening days with Mrs. Commish in Pittsburgh, a few days in WV at Oglebay (where Monica, Al, Doug and I once had an amazing tennis match) and then a quick trip to Papa Boo’s on the way home.
Wyndham Clark?
42 FGL golfers participated in this latest elevated event. And yet Wyndham Clark, whom no one has, walked away with the victory? Stunning!
Big J took two weeks off and some might expect his team to be a bit rusty. Spieth did throw in a triple bogey to end Thursday and then badly miss the cut. But overall, a strong 8 more points for your FGL leader.
BTO moves up to 2nd place thanks to 11 points but his young eager squad!
Kevin lost a point and Paul continues to own the basement.
Let’s go back to Texas for a week!
Trip with a young Jedi to see The Return of the Jedi at the theater
Spoiled kid. Popcorn. Pop. Hot dog. Nice comfortable seat. Great sound. Huge crisp screen. I think I probably had to hide in the back of the family station wagon to get into the drive-in and was stuck eating left-over cold french fries I’d find under the floor mat.
Tried out Zafitg BrewPub in the short north last week.
Beer drinkers - this might be worth checking out. I see a summer happy hour in our future.
Kevin gets nice Finau win in Mexico
Kevin picked up 10 points and B.T.O. 9 points thanks to Rahm’s 2nd place.
FGL Managers with the first three draft picks find themselves in the top 3 places on your FGL leaderboard. As it shold be.
I’ve finally decided I really like Trevor Immelman’s accent. I’ve been trying to talk that way around the house. Mrs. Commissioner is not amused. That happens often.
Wells Fargo in Charlotte up next with Byron Nelson after that

Team tournament changes little on FGL leaderboard
Big J had the week off this week ( as well as next week ) giving us all a chance to catch up. But most of us only inched our way forward. Doug has fled the country and yet he still picks up 7 points.
I was a little worried seeing that Kevin and Dave had teamed up pairing Homa and Morikawa together. Thankfully they feasted on too much Cajun food and missed the cut - the only FGL golfers to miss the cut last week.
What a lovely week it was
Made it down for a Clippers game at Huntington Park. It was the Tigers (Mudhens) vs. the Guardians/Indians (Clippers). The Mudhens won on a picture perfect comfortable night.
Also got out to Champions to play some golf with The Doctor. Where do I begin? Where do I end? Anyway - it was also another perfect sunny day on the course. Here we are on the 180 year par 3 (#10). We hit some unbelievable tee shots. Yep - I think we combined for about 6 of them!
Off to Mexico we go. Actually - not many of us make that trip
Rahm is the (only) big name going. Could be an easy win for him.
Manager Golfers expected to play
Kevin Tony Finau
B.T.O. Jon Rahm, Gary Woodland, Francesco Molinari
Jim Billy Horschel, Chez Reavie J
Jaustin Taylor Pendrith, Adam Long
Paul Dustin Hoffman
The Doctor Alex Noren
Monica Emiliano Grillo
Doug No one
Commish No one
Big J No one
Commissioner brings back Buckley
He was gone for a week and I missed him. Team chemistry just wasn’t the same without him. Too make room for him, I have placed someone named Tiger Woods on the injured reserve list and given him his immediate release.
A medical update:
Just keeping everyone in the loop on my always exciting adventures when it comes to health.
Last week I had an appointment with a doctor. It was a lovely afternoon. I certainly came through it feeling so much better about myself. You may have guessed it. Office visit with the one and only Doctor of Golf -Al McGuire at TopGolf.
Doug jumps up to 2nd place before leaving the country
His #1 guy Fitzpartrick came through with a victory in Hilton Head bumping Doug up from 5th place to 2nd place on your FGL leaderboard. That must feel good as he’s off to Australia for a month. Per the FGL by-laws, other FGL managers are free to provide guidance for Doug’s team in his absence. I’m open to any suggestions.
Big J’s number one guy, Justin Thomas, is his worst performing golfer this season. But it doesn’t seem to matter. The rest of the squad pitches in. As the saying goes, “there’s no “i” in “J”. And yet, he continues to lead.
Paul having three guys in and then giving them the weekend off is not a strategy I would recommend.
Realizing that her young Zaltoris has decided to quit for the season, Manager Monica has released him and also fired Tommy Detry. Pinch hitting on the female phenoms’ team will be Kurt Kitayama and Keyoung-Hoon Lee. I know. I had to do some digging. Turns out Hoon Lee is some guy she met at Chipotle at lunch one day. Anyway - welcome!
Sadly - this would be me:
Heading down to N'leans for some team golf
Some interesting teams that should dominate. Homa and Morikawa. Breakfast Souflle and Cantlay.
Manager Golfers expected to play
Kevin Collin Morikawa
Big J No one
B.T.O. Max Homa
Jim Patrick Cantlay, Billy Horschel, Don Henley
Jaustin Sungjae Im, Taylor Pendrith
Paul Si Woo Kim, Dustin Hoffman
The Doctor Xander Schauffele
Monica Keith Mitchell, Thomas Detry
Doug Matt Fitzpatrick, Sam Burns, Sahith Theegala, Tom Hoge
Commish Tom Kim, Taylor Montgomery
Time to get ready for golf season
Julian will be providing Happy Baby stretch lessons. Al - if you hope to golf more than 3 times this summer, you should sign up.
What a crazy Master's Tournament
Monica’s Zatoris withdrew right before he was to tee off.
Al’s Hovland went -7 his first day, which at the end of the tournament would have been good for 4th place.
Two LIV golfers tied for 2nd place (Lefty and Koepka) and Robert Reed came in 4th. I didn’t see that happening. And ironic that Rory missed the cut.
Monica had no one miss the cut - but only picked up 6 points.
Big J looked to have the victory locked up with Koepka dominating but then Sunday afternoon, it appeared that Koepka and Spieth might tie for 2nd giving Big J far too many points. As it was, Team Big J picked up 22 points, the same as Doug’s team.
Tiger - I only paid a nickel for him so it’s hard to complain much. But of all the Majors, Augusta is the course he’s played the most. And he never misses the cut there. Seemed like an ideal time for him to recreate some magic. And yet he was destined to miss the cut until Justin Thomas threw in a few late bogeys to move the cut line. Tiger played about 8 holes in the nasty rain Saturday and then called me Sunday morning. “Commish - I think I’m going to bail on golfing Sunday. I’m cold and aching. And my kid Charlie wants to have an Easter Egg Hunt”. What could I say? All that work and no points. I should have drafted Freddie instead.
Walking off the 18th green, Rahm was hugging everyone. I kept waiting to see him embrace his “Losing is Not An Option” Manager but it didn’t happen. Probably rushing to get to Hilton Head. Anyway - 30 points and the Sidebet Win for Dave. And he is now in 2nd place on your FGL leaderboard.
Friday' afternoon’s Master’s party at Yogi’s was pretty good. With trees flying around, the tournament (and coverage) was put on hold. And Yogi’s seemed to be in over their head with our crew. Doug had his bourbon, members of Team Julian made the trek up, Monica nearly kidnapped a baby and well - there’s always Al. A good time!
Let's go to Hilton Head next. Strong field. Must be an elevated event
Manager Golfers expected to play
Kevin Collin Morikawa, Tony Finau, Pete Rose, Brian Harman
Big J Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Doris Day, Jimmy Conners, Tyrrell Hatton
B.T.O. Jon Rahm, Max Homa, Gary Woodland
Jim Patrick Cantlay, Billy Horschel, Great Scott, Don Henley, Cap’n Kirk, Chez Reavie
Jaustin Rory, Cameron Young, Sungjae Im, Taylor Pendrith, Adam Long
Paul Seamus Power, Sepp Straka, Si Woo Kim
The Doctor Breakfast Schauffele, Viktor Hovland, Shane Lowry, Kevin Kisner, Alex Noren Matt Kuchar
Monica Will Zalatoris, Keith Mitchell, Milton Bradley, Thomas Detry, Emiliano Grillo
Doug Matt Fitzpatrick, George Burns, Sahith Theegala, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Hoge
Commish Scottie Scheffler, Tom Kim, lil Rickie, Taylor Montgomery, J.T. Poston
Big J adds to lead
Jimmy Conners came through in Texas with a win that Big J really didn’t even need. It’s just not right.
Kevin proudly sits in the basement with Monica only one point ahead of him. Team Jaustin had a tough tournament with both of his guys missing the cut.
Your Commissioner makes the first trade of the season with the firing of Hayden Buckley. With a need to get more players at the Master’s, I have chosen to pick up JT Poston. I don’t even know what he looks like. I really don’t care. Just want him to make the cut. Good-bye Hayden Buckley.
Happy belated birthday to former Manager Lauren We partied at PINS in Dublin Sunday in her honor. But of course, the pictures were of Julian!
