Manager moves

Just to keep everyone up to speed. With the beginning of the Scottish Open the other week, Manager Doug also jumped across the pond. He’s still there which may lead one to believe it’s FGL related. Nope - he went to Germany (by mistake). After all, all his guys are in Scotland.

The Kids from IT leave in about a week for Europe as well. They’re going to Paris for two weeks for the Olympics. Kind of odd as I don’t think Ashley qualified for anything.

Manager Big J will be leaving for Scotland in about a month.

And Al spends quite a bit of time in Dublin. Not Ireland but Ohio.

And that concludes our European update.

Breakfast at The Open coming up!

MacIntire wins the Scotish Open. I’m guessing someone picks him up next season.

Jaustin continues to lead the FGL as we roll towards the end, even with Bez withdrawing early. Kevin continues to battle in second. Monica and Paul, you can’t go -3 at the Scotish Open and hope to make up any ground.

I do question Milton Bradley being named Manager for the Ryder Cup. He hasn’t been on any recent teams and has never served as a vice-captain. I find the timing quite suspect. Is this all a distraction as poor Kevin tries to keep his team focused on the Tommy O Award?

Surprise Trip to Cleveland area (Northfield, OH)

You’ve all seen the normal bored face of Mrs. Commissioner when she’s around me. But all that changed Friday night with a surprise trip to the MGM Northfield Park Racino. Suddenly she was like a college kid again as she found out her Michael Stanley Band was playing a 50th anniversary show.

A trip to Cincy

Watched the Reds take on the devilish Detroit Tigers. They never had a chance. Swept by Detroit. For those of you not paying close attention, Detroit and Cincy are really bad. Meanwhile the “Indians” have the best record in baseball. Afterwards went and spent some time roaming around the Mainstrasse area of Covington. Several good times from years ago with Doug and Dave.

MoTown in the books

Looked like Kevin was going to grab a win but on the last hole, a bogey gave him a second place at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. My boy Cam Davis stole the win.

Bad news for PAK-Mon when Will Zaltoris withrdrew midway through his 3rd round. He made the cut but did not finish - no points.

This is how I dance after a good shot:

THE DOCTOR!!

Got to Rolling Meadows last week with Al McGuire M.D. What an honor. For those of you worried, yes he does still have lots of baggies! And issues with his belt loops. And endless wisdom!

I also got out to Jamaica Run near Dayton with Manager Big J. The huge crowds went absolutely nuts when he pulled out his Driver for a shot out of the rough. He’s just wacky!

John Deere on the horizon

Not many FGL golfers playing in it. Probably most are preparing for the jump across the pond for the upcoming Genesis Scotish Opan and British Open.

What a night!

Saturday night at Mershon Auditorium for a Donny Osmond concert with my sister. In 1972, we saw Donny outdoors at the Ohio State Fairgrounds. He didn’t seem to remember us. But for a few moments, I thought maybe I was seeing the Beetles. A packed auditorium of old women squealing for Donny. He was a truly incredible showman. 65 albums! He spent about 45 minutes letting people in the audience request any of his songs. He still remembered most of them. And if anyone picked a song from “little” Donny, he would do a duet with his younger voice. It was an amazing show covering all the twists and turns in his career. But I still couldn’t get over the reaction for this guy that’s about 70 years old. I mean, imagine if Manager Jim was up on stage with a microphone singing a few tunes. I’m not sure he’d get the same reaction.

Scottie wins again. As (almost) always

Tom Kim put up quite a fight for Manager Doug but just couldn’t quite edge Scottie out. But for the next two weeks, I think Scottie is going home so someone else can finally win.

Still a 3 horse race with Pac-Mon now right behind Kevin for 2nd place. Going to MoTown next. And there are cuts for these next couple of tournaments. Just 6 tournaments left.

Manager Jim - was a week behind getting your Lowry points updated. All set now.

Wonderful week of Golf (not the FGL kind)

Caught up with former FGL manager Tim at O’Bannon Golf Club. Also played Bent Tree this week with The Legend. And then Thursday at Rising Star Casino. In each outing, it was about 1,000 degrees!

Team Schenk fires family member

Adam Schenk has been released from Team Jaustin this lovely Wednesday afternoon. According to Julian, “I never met the kid. I can’t believe we’re even related.” And so Adam is gone. Quickly flying into Connecticut in time for the Traveler’s for Team Jaustin is Christian Bezuidenhout. And I have no idea what I”m going to do with that name yet.

Quite a wild FGL weekend

Happy Father’s Day Austin. Your team certainly celebrated you. 1st place from DeChambeau and 2nd from Rory and then a bunch of other top 10’s from Finau and Matsuyama. 50 points. That’s crazy. And now, the FGL lead.

Kevin had a great weekend too picking up far too many points. 2nd place for you.

Monica and Paul - Scottie did (somehow) make the cut. But a grand total of only 2 points for the tournament. That kind of hurts. Al and I had a similar fate.

Doug - great news. All six of your guys made the cut! But none finished in the top 20. 12 points.

Dave - Rahm withdrew before the tournament leaving you only 3 guys. Bottom line - negative 2 points for you. Amazing!

Mark Calcavecchia - Pinehurst is such a cool area with great courses. #2 ain’t one of them. Most overrated course in the world. OUCH Mark! Though I must admit I would not enjoy playing that course either.

Max Homa - The moment I wake up on a Saturday morning after missing the cut I root for the course to become impossible so I can laugh at all the stupid players who whooped my ass.

Tyrell Hatton - With this course being harder, a lot of the guys are sort of losing their head. They can experience what it’s like in my head every week!

Another signature elevated event coming up

The Travelers. And for those guys that made the cut at the Memorial and US Open and are now pretty much forced to play again, a few might be okay missing the cut and taking a break!

Some lovely evenings....

Mrs. Commissioner and I set out for the Schottenstein Center Thursday night. First time I saw Earth, Wind and Fire. They were good! Loved the brass section. And I knew more songs than I would have expected. That was all a warm-up for Lionel Richie. As Lionel told us, most of his body is now new which he hopes will allow him to make it around this planet a few times. He was such a classic performer.

We followed that with an outstanding evening with Manager Doug and Maxine at Shadowbox for their David Bowie / Prince show. What a pair of weird, unique and talented people. And I don’t just mean Doug and Maxine!
